BUSINESS:
* It was moved that recognition be given to Frank van derPeet for his work on FOGG web-site. All agreed the site is informative & user- friendly. A training day for interested committee members has been set down. A set of books Birds of SE Aust. has been presented by way of thanks.
* A move to gradually phase the newsletter into electronic format will be made over the next 12 months. Email addresses will be sought from members who have one. The choice will then be given for either hard copy or electronic copy.
* Questions were raised about the Halls Gap Botanical Gardens. Whose project is it? Why does it look neglected? It is not a FOGG responsibility, but maybe FOGG could assist in some way. It has suffered from drought, the impact of the fires on community energy, and animal predation. Current plans for Botanical Gardens discussed. Need for fence around perimeter rather than around individual plots. Appropriate Grants will be sourced. Enquiries re “Work for the Dole” placements will be made as well as other sources for volunteer workers.
* Letter received from a couple asking about promoting membership of FOGG in their business brochure and offering us a donation. Committee was cautious about this idea. In the past in a somewhat similar case we were concerned about appearing to endorse a business. So we welcomed their interest and desire to support us, but suggested that Proo discuss it further with them.
* Letter received from GWMW re preservation of headworks reservoirs such as Moora Moora, Wartook, Bellfield. Information on file.
* Brochure – $200 will be forwarded together with a set of books Birds of SE Australia to Miriam Gunn for her work with FOGG brochure.
* Graham Parkes is working on having an area for volunteer groups in the office area when it is refurbished. It would be great if FOGG storage space were to be made available at Parks office. Would be great for archival material, journals etc. A ‘work for the dole’ volunteer can be arranged to sort through our archival material.
* Beyond the Smoke – . Project now in credit (on paper; for real when the grant monies have finally been paid). FOGG to split profits with SHARE appeal, who provided funding for the book and other parts of the project.
