More on the Spring Calendar

1. AGM Sunday September 7th.

Thank you to those of you who are now up to date with your membership fees. Please check your label if you are unsure whether you have paid.
At the AGM all committee positions are available. Please seriously consider whether you can take a bigger role. It is not good for an organisation to keep people in jobs for too long. In particular, it would be good to give our longserving treasurer and secretary some rest. The jobs are not onerous, and if FOGG is to remain a useful organisation new blood is very desirable.
Please bring along photos from the Red Gum Walk. We are working on having some “before and after” photos in our interpretation displays.

2. Threatened Species Group Activities

This time of the year is the busy season for looking for our rare plants. It is always most enjoyable, even when we don’t find our target species. But remember you must RSPV to Sylvia to ensure that there are no last minute changes and that the right number of cars is organised as often we go on closed roads.

3. Grampians Wildflower Show.

Not actually a FOGG event, but one which could not survive without FOGG support. It’s a great way of learning about the local ecology. You certainly don’t need to be an expert to be very useful indeed. Both in the preparation and during the show itself. Offers to help to Anne Dempster 5356 4426, Mandy Wadge 0438 136 483 or Margo Sietsma 5356 4524.

4. Release of the Brush- tail Rock Wallabies
Unfortunately the date cannot be announced with certainty. They are awaiting final health checks on the animals and finding a date that suits Government officials. For more information contact the GNP office on 5361 4000 in October.

Monterey Secondary College Visit.
Once again we cannot be precise about which days the group is going to help us on the Red Gum Walk restoration and other projects. They will be up here for three weeks with a large number of Year 9 students. Your help will be really appreciated as we harness their youthful energy. Please contact Margo in early November
